Pidge and Friend
State of the Limerick (11)

A cat from New Mexico,
Whose best friend was a gecko,
Went on a road trip,
With his trusty catnip,
In search of some Art Deco.

HELP NEEDED WITH PRAIRIE DOG RELOCATION
Donations are now being accepted for the humane rescue and relocation of the Calvary Church prairie dogs at any Wells Fargo Branch bank under the account entitled "PRAIRIE DOG RESCUE."
The rescue of these unfortunate creatures, some of Albuquerque's oldest residents, remains unfunded by the new residents at the site of the old Blue Cross Blue Shield Building. Your support is crucial to their survival. Cash or check donations may be made at any Wells Fargo branch, for your convenience. Should you choose to donate in cash, please consider leaving a receipt with your contact information. Prairie Dog Pals would like to send you an acknowledgment so that you may take advantage of your tax-deductible donation.
We hope that the delay in getting this service launched will not affect the safe and humane relocation of these beleaguered animals. Please help by spreading the word!
PETroglyphs congratulates Assistance Dogs of the West on winning its second award grant from Planet Dog Foundation
Assistance Dogs of the West: This Santa Fe, NM organization trains assistance dogs for people with disabilities. The program Planet Dog Foundation (PDF) is funding recruits at-risk teens in danger of failing or dropping out of school, or who have had trouble with the law. These teens are taught dog training skills, and then engage in comprehensive training for the assistance dogs. Teens are provided with invaluable lessons in empathy, trust and responsibility, and given the reward of unconditional love, a marketable job skill, and an alternative to the risky behaviors they were involved in before. This is the second PDF grant to Assistance Dogs of the West. www.assistancedog.org
Contratulations, Assistance Dogs of the West! This is a prestigious honor.
SPAY YOUR CAT AT THE BERNCO BLITZ
Animal Humane is launching a new program to reduce the unwanted cat population in Albuquerque by spaying 2,550 additional cats. Each year, Animal Humane and the City's Animal Welfare Department are inundated with thousands of unwanted cats. While both shelters work hard to find homes for as many cats and kittens as possible, the unfortunate reality is thousands of cats are euthanized each year because there are more cats than available homes.

New Book Released
GOODBYE, JAKE by Bam Schildkraut
Goodbye, Jake is a newly released book by Bam Schildkraut. The story centers on a family
coping with the loss of one of their beloved pets, Jake, a red and black greyhound. The story centers on Cole, an inquisitive,
sensitive young boy. Jake's passing is Cole's first experience with death. With the help of his grandmother and a local
archaeologist studying ancient Native American cultures, Cole learns how people, past and present, preserve memories and
celebrate the lives of loved ones who have died. Goodbye, Jake is a reassuring story for children dealing with the death of a
pet or anyone coping with loss.
The illustrations in soft watercolors by Whitney Martin, contribute to the loving and compassionate mood of the story.
Goodbye, Jake is available at Bookworks in Albuquerque and at Collected Works in Santa Fe. For more information on the book and additional
ordering options, visit the author's website at www.bamschildkraut.com
